According to various experiments and research, it is predicted that sea levels will rise 0.9 m or more by 2100, therefore the climate change is likely to cause a trouble to low-lying towns and cities including Miami. Bankok, London. As a result, it is essential to think about new ways of living that could be applied in new kind of conditions. The country such as The Netherlands is ideal for solutions that suggest floating. The country is also one of the world's leading source for flood-proof architecture and design.

The floating home developments are on the rise in Amsterdam. Since the there is a shortage of land, the idea of floating homes has been adopted. Because of the properties being on the water, the challenges that officials had included the fire brigade which was land-based therefore, the traditional fire escape was not applicable. Moreover, the transportation of such homes was also an issue as homes couldn't be wider than 6.5 m. In order to avoid homes drifting away or into one another, the steel mooring poles were used.

The first structures built in 2009 have attracted more residents. The residents can enjoy their own natural swimming are during the summer and skating during the winter. The floating community today is increasing and there are more and more people interested in such projects.

Although there is no best way of building floating homes, designers and engineers are working on new techniques:

1. The Egg Home, (Exbury, England) designed by Turner S. who has been experimenting for a year, the dwelling could be found southern England's Beaulieu  River.
