Adding Character to a new build or keeping it when refurbishing an old property is in  book extremely important. Stripping a period property of moldings, fireplaces and replacing windows windows with modern plastic look a likes is a no-no. Not that we are (yet) considering starting the next big project, the loft conversion I have started collecting pictures for what I want when the day to speak to the builder comes and adding charm to this new addition will be key.  A few good ideas below from Better Homes & Gardens; add wooden floors, use quirky spaces, add storage in unused places and dress up the mantel (yes the loft will have a fireplace!).
